Physics 241
Final Exam Blue Print

Date: Thursday, December 13, 9:00 am S201
Duration: 2.5 hours

Major Emphases

There are a number of central ideas that you should be prepared to discuss at both the "problem solving" and conceptual levels:
  1. Forces and Free Body Diagrams:
Be prepared to discuss and use FBD's. This includes drawing them and setting up subsequent equations of force. Since we have now inlcuded rotation and torque - be prepared to also (when appropriate) include rotational terms. THis also assume familiarity with vector notation and using vector notation in setting up force equations.
  2. Energy and Conservation
Make sure you understand how to calculate various forms that energy can take as well understanding the use of work-energy theorem and conservation principles. You should also review the idea of power and how this relates to energy and work.
  3. Impulse and Momentum:
Understand and be prepared to discuss momentum, impusle and the physics of collisions. Be sure that you know how to combine both momentum and energy concepts.
Also - remember that these ideas come in linear and rotational "flavours!"
