Physics 300
Final Exam Blueprint
Final Exam Time/Date/Location: Wednesday, 9:00-11:30 in L113
The final exam will consist of 5
multi-part questions of varying worth. You will have 2.5 hours to complete
the exam and can use your formula cards as well as a calculator. The questions
will lead you from simple conceptual ideas to specific applications. Everyone
should be able to get at least the first couple of parts of each question but
I don't expect anyone to get every thing! (But I will be delighted if you do).
Advice on how to prepare:
- make sure you review 4-momentum, space-time and the diagrams that we use to understand these!
- understand conceptually
what relativity is, and how you would explain it to a friend. Maybe even enlist
a friend and try explaining the theory as well as evidence for the theory
to him/her.
- review all of your homework questions
- work through
a number of e&m
problems from Knight. Choose the Basic level questions to help spot any
serious problems (you should find these easy) and the Challenge
level in Knight for a deeper test of your understanding. I will be asking
you a bit more general kinds of question because the questions will overlap
a number of topics.
- be sure you understand how to
use vector notation and basic vector math
- practice the Biot-Savard Law and
especially how to set up components of the B-field.
- get a good night's
sleep Tuesday night!
